This year, Snapchat has rolled out several disability-friendly features as part of its commitment to being a more fair, inclusive, and anti-racism app.

Creating products that empower people to express themselves is an important part of Snapchat's mission to be a source of good in the world. At Snapchat, products are built with an approach that combines empathy with research.

This allows Snapchat to understand how users interact with the product being developed, conduct experiments to validate findings, and rework the design to increase inclusivity.

As an app for sharing photos, inclusivity has become the ultimate goal to elevate the camera as a representative of the community. This year, Snapchat has rolled out several disability-friendly features as part of its commitment to being a more fair, inclusive, and anti-racism app.

Here are some of the features that Snapchat created to allow Snapchatters to properly express their authentic self as well as provide what's in the digital world.

Snapchat Augmented Reality (AR) is committed to making it easy and creating a fun way for Snapchatters to communicate visually, not just enabling how AR can improve the way people shop or communicate in general.

Snapchat launched ASL Alphabet Lens on April 5, 2022, in partnership with SignAll. This is the first innovation in AR Lenses that will allow Snapchat's 319 million users to start learning American Sign Language (ASL). Indonesia as one of the ASL adopters can start using this lens to learn sign language.

App Mini Show

Snapchat also has premium mini-shows called Shows. One of the interesting content available to raise awareness about disability is “Make Way”. Make Way has many episodes covering true stories from the point of view of real people about how they live with disabilities.

These shows are great for showing a more diverse representation of the entertainment industry, as well as for Millennials and Gen Z in general to better understand some of the issues that may be rarely discussed in the context of disability.
