In a report titled the Annual List of the 35 richest people in the world according to the Forbes version, the number of the world's richest people reached 2,755 billionaires amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Despite the pandemic, this year the number of the world's richest people has broken a record. In which, there has been an unprecedented increase in wealth of USD 5 trillion and an unprecedented number of new billionaires," citing Forbes's explanation on its official website, Tuesday (6/4/2021).
It is said that the wealth of the ranks of the very rich in the world has actually increased after a year of the pandemic that hit the world.
A pandemic that has turned the world economy upside down and threatens the livelihoods of people around the world.
The amount of wealth of the world's richest person this year has exceeded USD 13.1 trillion, up from last year's USD 8 trillion.
Where the top throne is still held by Amazon.com Inc founder Jeff Bezos. He held the position of World's Richest Person for 4 consecutive years.
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk jumped to second on the list, up from his previous position. Bernard Arnault, chief executive of luxury goods company LVMH, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg round out the top five richest billionaires in the world.
